People on the Move: Long Island promotions, new jobs

Carrie D’Oria, of Massapequa, has been hired as assistant principal of Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School. D’Oria was the health education department chairperson at Great Neck North Middle School.

Mary LaMotta, of Commack, has been hired as the director of literacy and library, K-12, in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District. LaMotta was the director of English language arts for Freeport Public Schools.

Amy Joyce, of Hicksville, has been hired as director of private client services at Sheehan & Company in Brightwaters. Joyce was chief financial officer for the North Bellmore Union Free School District in Bellmore.

Randi Shubin Dresner, of East Meadow, president and chief executive of Island Harvest Food Bank in Melville, has been appointed chair of the Council for the State University of New York College at Farmingdale.

Julian Chen, of Melville, has been hired as an IT support technician at H2M architects + engineers in Melville. Chen was an IT support technician at The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration in Manhattan.

Sean O'Donnell, of Northport, has been hired as a staff engineer at H2M architects + engineers in Melville. O'Donnel was an electrical engineering intern at the firm.

Mark J. Nolan, of Northport, owner of Nolan Funeral Home, Inc. in Northport, has been elected president of the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) in Albany.

Paul Becht, of Glen Cove, has been hired as a partner at Sheehan & Company, CPA in Great Neck. Becht was a principal at Baker Tilly in Uniondale.

Gerry Compitello, of Amityville, has been hired as manager of public affairs and community engagement at the AFA Barbara Rabinowitz Education & Resource Center in Amityville. Compitello was former Babylon town clerk.

Alejandro Rivera, of Massapequa, has been hired as assistant superintendent for human resources in the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District. Rivera was principal of George A. Jackson Elementary School in Jericho. 

Marie S. Hubert, of Medford, has been hired as director of child nutrition and food services in the Southampton School District. St. Hubert was a menu management senior menu specialist for the Office of Food and Nutrition Services for the New York City Public Schools.

Theodore Rohrs, of Seaford, has been hired as coordinator of athletics for the Copiague School District. Rohrs was assistant director of physical education at the Grace Church School in Manhattan.

Eric Dobmeier, of West Babylon, band director at Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School in Copiague, has been promoted to coordinator of fine arts and music for the Copiague School District.

Jennifer Drofenik, of Farmingville, has been hired as administrator of Island Nursing and Rehab Center (part of Gurwin Healthcare System) in Holtsville. Drofenik was director of health services at Peconic Landing Life Plan Community in Greenport.

Sela Scarangella, of Garden City, has been hired as program manager for the Alzheimer's Association Long Island Chapter in Melville. Scarangella was direct response ad sales assistant for Great American Media in Manhattan.

Laura Fox, of Jericho, a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice in Jericho, has been appointed to the board of directors of The Retreat in East Hampton, Riverhead and Hauppauge.

Kara Sue Ackerman, of East Hampton, founder of Secrets N Style in East Hampton, has been appointed to the board of directors of The Retreat in East Hampton, Riverhead and Hauppauge.

Steven Gargano, of Oakdale, senior project manager at Norco Construction in Melville, has been promoted to Project Executive.

Fred Fields, of Ronkonkoma, has been hired as director of donor engagement at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club in Locust Valley. Fields was vice president of strategy, planning and administration at Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) in Manhattan.
