"The Devil Wears Prada 2” film shoot has come to Long Island.
On Tuesday, crew members could be seen entering and exiting a sprawling, gated house on Centre Island Road on Oyster Bay Town’s Centre Island, with a white tent set up on the property.
The set was closed to the public, likely giving the actors a bit of a break from the attention they’ve generated in New York City.
Crew members seen on Tuesday had nametags with the word "Cerulean" on it, most likely referencing a well-known scene in the original movie in which Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly scolds Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs about how choices made in the fashion industry led her to wearing her unfashionable sweater that was more than just blue, but instead specifically cerulean.
For a movie that won’t be released until May 1, "The Devil Wears Prada 2” — the sequel to the 2006 original — is generating an unusual amount of buzz. Sightings of Streep, Hathaway and Stanley Tucci at various Manhattan locations have been making headlines and filling social media feeds since the film began shooting in July. Paparazzi have taken countless pictures of the stars as they dash about the city in well-tailored outfits, laugh glamorously between takes or carry cafeteria trays full of snacks.
One outlet that has covered the filming extensively is Vogue, the magazine run by Anna Wintour that inspired her onetime personal assistant, Lauren Weisberger, to write her 2003 novel. One gallery at Vogue, dated Aug. 8, is titled, "All the Costumes from 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' (So Far)" and features nearly three dozen photos.
The original film ended with Hathaway’s Andy storming out on Streep’s Miranda (who ran a magazine called Runway), then learning that her former boss nevertheless recommended her for a plum job at a major New York newspaper. Plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps, but according to reports the story follows Miranda as she navigates a declining magazine industry and encounters her old assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now a luxury-industry executive. There’s also speculation about a new publication, possibly called Adore, whose logo can be seen partially in a TikTok video that captured Hathaway in a high-rise on Sixth Avenue.
