Summer preview: 'Toy Story 5,' 'Devil Wears Prada 2' and 33 other great movies coming soon
Are you ready for a cerulean summer?
Twenty years after "The Devil Wears Prada" explained how the fashion industry forces its followers to wear the latest trendy hue, the sequel will hit theaters May 1. Reuniting original cast members Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, "The Devil Wears Prada 2” is shaping up as one of the summer’s hottest tickets, ranking No. 3 on Fandango’s "Most Anticipated" list, trailing Sony-Marvel’s "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" at No. 2 and Disney-Pixar’s "Toy Story 5” at No. 1.
Scan the rest of that list — which includes the animated "Minions & Monsters," the live-action "Moana" and DC Studios’ "Supergirl" — and you’ll notice that nearly every title is a sequel, a remake or a superhero installment. The only exception: "The Odyssey," Christopher Nolan’s epic saga featuring Matt Damon as the King of Ithaca. There are other original titles, too, flying a little more under the radar, including Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller "Disclosure Day," the whimsical murder-mystery "The Sheep Detectives" and the saucy-looking comedy "The Invite."
Here are 35 big titles coming this summer:
