Billy Joel's 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay to close
Now that Billy Joel has officially become a Florida resident and currently has his Centre Island mansion on the market for $29.9 million, the Piano Man is closing his motorcycle shop, 20th Century Cycles, located at 101 Audrey Ave. in Oyster Bay.
The storefront is remaining open Saturdays and Sundays in August from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., selling off motorcycle parts — all the motorcycles have been removed. A flyer posted on Instagram reads: "Everything must go! OEM, vintage, new and used parts. Moto Guzzi, BMW, Triumph, Harley Davidson, Royal Enfield, Indian, Kawasaki and Suzuki. Exhaust pipes, fuel tanks and motorcycle jacks. Cash only!" No final closing date has been announced.
As for Joel's many personal motorcycles, late Monday, the singer's representative, Claire Mercuri, said because of his "recent medical issue, he will be auctioning the bike collection later this year."
Joel also "will not be renewing the lease on the 20th Century Cycles bike shop once it expires, the end of September," Mercuri wrote in an email.

The shop opened its doors in November 2010 housing Joel’s vintage motorcycles collection of over 75 bikes that range from bobbers, cafe racers and cruisers to stock cycles and side cars. Interestingly, 20th Century Cycles never sold or fixed bikes outside Joel’s collection. The place was open to the public for weekend viewing and there was never any charge for admission.
"On the weekend, there are a lot of Long Island motorcyclists driving around with no place to go. There’s this kind of aimless cruise that everybody does on the weekends. They all like to see other people’s bikes and they like other people to see their bikes. So where do you go?" Joel told Newsday on opening night in 2010. "I was hoping this could become kind of a focus point for people aimlessly riding around on the weekends."
