Broadway star Melissa Errico gets amped up during the holiday season. The 55-year-old singer-actor, who grew up in Plandome, feels directly connected to Christmas.
“I always felt like I had a little destiny to be a Christmas fairy for eternity,” says Errico, who is married to tennis player-announcer Patrick McEnroe. “I have a heightened sense of the beauty of the season, innately. I believe this is a time to let your imagination run free.”
Errico will be in the spotlight at LIU Post’s Krasnoff Theater at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville on Dec. 13 performing “The Secret Diary of Mrs. Santa.” This is one of several holiday-themed shows happening on Long Island next month. Here are 23 concerts not to miss.

MELISSA ERRICO

Broadway star Melissa Errico: "Every year I have a different inspiration for my holiday show." Credit: Marco Vacchi
For “The Secret Diary of Mrs. Santa” show at Tilles Center’s Krasnoff Theater on Dec. 13, Errico will be wearing a dress designed by Eric Winterling and inspired by Rosemary Clooney’s costume from “White Christmas,” which Errico starred in on Broadway. Pianist Billy Stritch accompanies her on songs like “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” to name a few.
“Every year I have a different inspiration for my holiday show. I was thinking about the concept of Mrs. Santa writing a memoir,” Errico says. “I don’t think she’ll be in the best mood in the beginning because Santa is always so busy this time of year. There will be a bit of housewife humor like, ‘I’m stuck here with the reindeer and the mess he leaves behind.’ ”
