It's official!
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married in elaborate Madison Square Garden ceremony, Swift's publicist confirmed to The Associated Press. The couple did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead opting for Swift’s brother to serve as her man of honor and Kelce’s brother Jason serving as his best man, publicist Tree Paine said in an email.
More details confirmed by The Associated Press:
- Comedian Adam Sandler was the officiant. Fun fact: Kelce appeared in Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2" last year.
- What they wore: The couple was outfitted by Christian Dior Haute Couture and its designer Jonathan Anderson. Taylor's shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin and she wore Cartier jewelry.
A billboard outside MSG shared the news, using a play on the "T & T" nickname for Swift and Kelce's relationship.
Only 30 'missing' guests

With the guest list for the evening purported to be 1,000, only 30 were unaccounted for, a staffer said as the arrivals line of cars slowed down. These guests were either not coming, being late or hadn't been scanned into the event. Travis Kelce is already one of the most reliable pass-catching tight ends in NFL history, with a catch rate north of 70%, but even that number pales in comparison to the success rate of his and Swift's wedding attendance.
Traffic lanes on Seventh Avenue have since reopened and the crowd of onlookers has thinned out. The mood remains festive among those here.
Katherine Coy, 51, wanted to be near a place of joy this holiday weekend. And to this Swiftie, that place was MSG Friday.
"Life is stressful and politics are stressful," the married mother of three said. "I just thought this would be exciting and I really wanted to be a part of it."
So Coy traveled from Atlanta to New York and joined a crowd of fans Friday, donning a white veil that had flashing lights of color in it for the occasion. Coy said the crowd outside MSG was smaller than she expected. "I'm hoping later this evening there'll be some more fans," she said. "There will be some singing."
Taylor's 'something blue'
Traditionalists say a bride needs something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. The Empire State Building is lending a hand on that last one, sending word that the iconic tower will be aglow tonight in a color described as "light blue sparkle" in honor of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding at Madison Square Garden.
The 1976 tower was the scene of a different love story Wednesday, when a stunt-loving couple climbed clear to the top of the antenna and got engaged. Their early wedding gift: Felony charges.
Celebrity-spotting among the arrivals
While most guests are waiting to exit their vehicles until they're fully cloaked by the arrivals tent, a few famous faces were spotted walking in. Nobody wants to be late to a wedding.

Shortly after, actor Hugh Grant was spotted walking toward MSG with his wife, Anna Elisabet Ebsterstein. On "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Swift recalled a hilarious gaffe Kelce made on the London leg of her Eras tour, confusing Eberstein with "Barbie" director Greta Gerwig.

Guests in wedding attire began arriving at Madison Square Garden around 3:30 p.m. Friday. A handful of of guests, judging by their outfits, exited their cars at the street corner and walked into the tent area. Nearly 100 SUVs and a few cars lined 31st Street toward Seventh Avenue for the entrance tent by 4:30 p.m., pulling in at about a car per minute.

Dolly Parton says thanks a million, make that 2 million
Well, hello Dolly! Country music icon Dolly Parton posted an Instagram Reel video on Friday thanking Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their $2 million donation to her Imagination Library, a nonprofit charity that gets books into the hands of underprivileged children.
Thank you @taylorswift13 and @tkelce for the generous gift to @dollyslibrary! ❤️ I wish you both the best, and know that I will always love you. pic.twitter.com/HHxNzYTl7z
— Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) July 3, 2026
"Taylor and Travis, it's Dolly, and I was just told that you two were making a donation of $2 million to my Imagination Library," Parton said in the video. "I'm blown away and overjoyed with that gratitude. Now, it's evident, that you have made giving back a key part of your lives, so hey, when you have you firstborn, can I have it? Because that is gonna be one special baby!"
The power couple announced earlier this week that they would be donating $26 million to several charities including Feeding America, which operates more than 200 food banks across the country.
Crowds gather as mystery grows

A small crowd has gathered at the corner of West 31st Street and Seventh Avenue, though the street shows no signs of activity yet. Swift's grey SUV is on the move in New York City, according to reports.
Hot-dog guy: Swift wedding doesn't cut the mustard
Taylor Swift’s wedding wasn't doing much business for Malek Mesely, 19, who was running a hot-dog cart at the corner of 34th St and Seventh Ave. “It’s Fourth of July, it’s summer, it’s slow,” he said, adding that the temperature felt like it could be over 100. One thing he’s grateful for: the World Cup. “That’s making some business,” Mesely said. “A little bit.”
Ready to wait 'as long as it takes'
Orlene Williams didn’t know about Taylor Swift’s wedding when she arrived for work Friday morning at 5 Penn Plaza. But after a security guard told her the office was closed for the Fourth of July weekend, she wandered across the street and sat down next to a woman who told her about the day’s festivities.
That was at 8:30 a.m. And even though the Brooklyn woman is "not a Swiftie," she’s planning to spend the entire day in the heat in the hope of spotting her.
"I’d like to see her with my naked eyes," Williams, who turns 63 on Saturday, said shortly after noon. "I have things to do today, but I can put it on hold. I’m going to sit here and wait."
Williams knows some Taylor Swift songs and likes what she’s heard.
"Her voice is touching," she said. "It’s just her natural voice. It’s not like she’s putting on something to sing. And she’s just down to earth. She’s a simple person."
Williams was enjoying the scene, filming videos of herself with TV cameras in the background, and of a Newsday reporter interviewing her.
"I think I’m going to be around here for the longest while," she said.

Nearby, Alex Castro of Malverne arrived at Rockefeller Center before 3 a.m. to get a good spot for the TODAY Show’s Maren Morris 8:30 a.m. concert. He hadn’t decided when he left home if he’d head to Madison Square Garden to check out the Taylor Swift scene. "I was thinking about it," he said. But once Castro, 30, decided to go, he prepared to be there all day. "As long as it takes," he said.
Castro isn’t sure if he’ll actually see Swift or anyone else beyond the metal barriers and other security measures surrounding the arena.
"We’ll just see what happens," he said.
But he was happy to be soaking in the vibe surrounding the wedding celebration.
"I’m a huge Swiftie," he said. "I’ve been following her since her debut album and her first songs, (like) ‘Teardrops on My Guitar,’" which is on her 2006 debut album, "Taylor Swift."
He finds Swift’s songs catchy and relatable.
"Her music really touches the fans," he said.

Steven Hutchison is on the last day of his World Cup trip to the United States to see his home Scottish team play. They were eliminated, so after a trip to the Empire State Building on Thursday, Hutchison, 51, of Edinburgh, Scotland, decided to head to Madison Square Garden Friday afternoon. “I think just being part of a historic occasion,” he said when asked why he was there. “In the U.K., we have royal weddings, and I think this is the closest America will come to a royal wedding.”
Hutchison said he and his daughters are fans of Swift but have never seen her in concert.
“This is about the closest I’ll get to her,” he said as he stood in his traditional red-checkered Scottish kilt across Seventh Avenue from white tents that appear to be entryways for wedding celebration guests.
“Everybody wants to wish them well and be part of it, and be part of the experience,” Hutchison said. “I think this is one of those once-in-and-lifetime experiences that you can say, ‘On that day, this is where I was.’”
Hutchison said he isn’t sure how long he’ll stay.
“Probably until I get bored or need a drink,” he said.

Whether you happened to stumble here due to the nuptial buzz — or you're a die-hard Swiftie — quiz yourself:
All the way from Kansas
Tourists are making special trips to Madison Square Garden to take in the atmosphere in anticipation of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. The Gibson family is from Kansas City, Kansas, where "we were all Travis lovers before Tay lovers," said September Gibson, 39, alluding to the Kansas City Chiefs, for which Kelce plays.
"This is exciting for me," Gibson said. "I call her our queen. Everybody I talk to is just as happy about it, but they don’t get to live the moment like we do."
The Gibsons watched as workers unloading trailers earlier in the morning.
"We just wanted to see the circus," said Barb Gibson, 67, also of Kansas City, Kansas, and September’s mother-in-law. "Kansas City has kind of adopted her. She’s with Travis so she’s with us."
Also across the street from the Garden Friday morning was the Werner family from Butler, Pennsylvania.
"We’re all Swifties," said Ayla Werner, 18, who was with her mother, father and brother visiting New York City for the long weekend. The family saw Swift at her last appearance in Pittsburgh, in 2023, during the "Eras Tour." They didn’t expect to see much on Friday, but "just knowing we were here the day she got married, even if we don’t see anything, it’s just cool to see," said Steph Werner, 46, Ayla’s mom.
The hulking Madison Square Garden isn’t the world’s most beautiful building, but it made sense as the wedding venue, Steph Werner said. "It’s protected, there’s extra security, helicopters can’t fly by," she said. "Plus, I feel this is Swiftie, New York."

Always a bridesmaid
If Taylor Swift ties the knot with Travis Kelce tonight as rumored, it won't be her first trip down the aisle. While she's never been a bride before, the pop princess has served in a few wedding parties. In 2021, she was a bridesmaid at "Girls" star and creator Lena Dunham's wedding to musician Luis Felber and got to wear two metallic silver dresses designed by Christopher Kane, accented with silver midis with high necklines, pleated skirts and embellished waists.
In 2016, Taylor served as the maid of honor for childhood friend Britany Maack. Reem Acra designed her pink chiffon cap-sleeve gown, which featured an embroidered bodice.
As bridesmaid at longtime pal Abigail Anderson's 2017 wedding on Martha's Vineyard, Taylor wore a burgundy gown and got to carry the bride's train.
So what will Taylor wear for her own wedding? We may know in a few hours.

Revealed: The Travis Hall of Fame

It’s not well known to the public and you have to call for its location, but Travis Kelce is a charter member of the Travis Hall of Fame. Other members include:
Travis Scott: Grammy-winning hip-hop producer and artist (his real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, but we'll make an exception)
Travis Tritt: Country singer
Travis Pastrana: Motorsports superstar
Travis Barker: Blink-182 drummer, husband of Kourtney Kardashian
Travis Fimmel: Star of "Tarzan" and "Vikings"
Travis D’Arnaud: MLB catcher who found much success after he left the Mets.
And the one person in the Travis Hall of Shame:
Travis Bickle: Tightly-wound sociopathic "Taxi Driver" character played by Robert De Niro.

100,000 chants for Taylor Swift

Montauk native Jake Epstein is attempting to say "Taylor Swift" 100,000 times outside Madison Square Garden Friday. Credit: Newsday/David Olson
Across the street from Madison Square Garden, self-described "mega-Swiftie" and Montauk native Jake Epstein is sitting in a blue canvas chair chanting "Taylor Swift" like a religious mantra. He is aiming to reach 100,000 chants.
"Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift," he says, as he presses his computer’s space bar to tally the chants. He had passed 16,500 by 10:30 a.m., nearly three hours after he arrived, and he hopes to finish by 6 p.m., when, reports say, the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding festivities will be well underway.
"I want people to feel the Taylor love, feel the Travis love," he says.
He’s broadcasting live on his YouTube channel, TheJakeEpstein.
The chant reminds Epstein, 22, a 2025 Hofstra University video and television graduate who lives in Manhattan, of being at a Taylor Swift concert. "It’s like people in any stadium in the world who say, 'Taylor, Taylor' right when she’s coming out for one of her shows," he says.

Epstein displays a video of himself, his voice in the background, interviewing Kelce at a media event before the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. He said it was for Hofstra’s radio station, WRHU. When he asked Kelce if he had "any plans on giving anyone special in your life a ring anytime soon," Kelce responded, "Next question."
Epstein said the massive interest in Swift’s wedding "just shows how much global impact she has and how much people love her." And to hold the wedding in Madison Square Garden on a Fourth of July weekend celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday makes it even more special, he said. "This is not just the Fourth of July," Epstein said. "It’s the Fourth of July on steroids."
Here comes the bridal gown
It's top of mind for many a wedding guest: What will the bride's gown look like?
When it comes to Swift, some fans believe there are clues based on her vintage-inspired, 18th century, old-mine, brilliant-cut diamond engagement ring estimated to be a massive 8 to 10 carats and costing more than $550,000. Independent jeweler David Charles Frank, of Sea Cliff, told Newsday when the couple got engaged last August that the choice showed "Taylor Swift has very special niche taste and an appreciation for old things."
Does that translate to a wedding dress? Maybe.
That said, Long Island bridal boutiques and designers have other ideas. Have a look.

Owner-designer Kimberly Towers, of Runway Couture in Bellmore, says, "I always like to do something personal for my brides." If Taylor Swift were one, Towers would create a voluminous overskirt emblazoned with a romantic lyric from one of the pop star's songs to sit atop a slim gown that featured 87 flowers (Kelce's Kansas City number) and 13 roses to celebrate Swift's lucky number. Other celeb weddings that took the cake
With everything from A-list guests (Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, etc.) to a Grade-A venue (Madison Square Garden), Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding may be hard for future celebrity couples to top. Here are three other super-couples who dominated the headlines with their own lavish — and in some cases, lower key — weddings.
Liza Minnelli and David Gest — The EGOT winner and the famed producer were married in March 2002 at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City followed by a reception at the Regent Wall Street Hotel. Minnelli wore a Bob Mackie-designed dress. Their 14-tier cake was 7 feet tall and topped with models of the bride and groom. As for the guest list of roughly 850, it included Lauren Bacall, Commack's Rosie O'Donnell, Diana Ross, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump. They divorced in 2007.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z — Music's ultimate supercouple were married in April 2008 in Jay-Z's 13,500-square-foot Tribeca penthouse, which had a tent set up and was filled with flowers, candles, branches and crystal icicles to create a winter wonderland. Only 40 guests were invited, including Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow. The seven-course meal included beluga caviar, shrimp scampi and buckets of Popeye's fried chicken.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon — They married one month after Beyoncé and Jay-Z at Carey's Bahamanian estate with only 12 guests (including rapper Da Brat). Delicacies included live Maine lobsters that were downed with Dom Pérignon. When they renewed their vows for their fifth anniversary, it was no Mickey Mouse affair — the event was at Disneyland with 250 guests in attendance. The Long Island native was dressed as Cinderella and the Fantasyland reception featured 15,000 flowers and 10,000 crystals. The marriage, however, did not have a fairy tale ending — they separated in 2014 and were divorced two years later.

They coulda been contenders: Taylor's exes
Taylor Swift has had many high-profile relationships since 2008 before she met The One. Here’s a quick look back:
Joe Jonas, July-October 2008: Swift was famously upset because Jonas broke up with her in a phone call. She referenced it several years later during her opening monologue on "Saturday Night Live."
Lucas Till, March-April 2009: A brief fling with the guy who costarred in Swift’s “You Belong to Me Video.”
Taylor Lautner, fall 2009: The tabs loved this short-lived relationship, calling it “Taylor Squared” or “Tay Tay”
John Mayer, December 2009-February 2010: Swift wrote “Dear John” about the relationship. Mayer was not pleased.
Jake Gyllenhaal, October 2010-January 2011: An Us Magazine cover screamed “Jake & Taylor in Love!” That got old quickly.
Connor Kennedy, July-October 2012: She could have been a Kennedy, but the coupling with RFK Jr.’s son was short-lived.
Harry Styles, November 2012-February 2013: The question we all want to know: Will Harry come to the wedding?
Calvin Harris, February 2015-May 2016: Although the relationship with the EDM musician was the longest-lived to date, the breakup was icky when Harris accused Swift of cheating.
Tom Hiddleston, May 2016-September 2016: Sources said the couple broke up because Swift was concerned that the actor wasn’t with her for the right reason.
Joe Alwyn, May 2017-April 2023: Nearly six years! A record.
Matty Healy, May-June 2023: Right before she met Kelce, Swift had one last fling, with the frontman of The 1975.

Naidalyn Gomas, 25, from New York, paused her July 4 travel plans to stop and try to see Taylor Swift. "I hope I can see Taylor, even for a little bit," said Gomas, outside Madison Square Garden with luggage in hand.
Gomas who has been a fan of Swift for years, has her own theory of why Swift is holding her wedding at MSG. "She said that she wanted to make it like a big wedding," she said. "So that makes sense if that’s why she’s doing it here."
Gomas, who said she knows that she probably won’t be able to see Swift, still has a message for her: "She has been my inspiration, for me and my sister, she is just great," she said.

Rosie Metcalf, 7, who said she has been a Taylor Swift fan for as long as she can remember, and her mother, Ali Metcalf, both from Tennessee, have been roaming around MSG for 45 minutes, Rosie said, remaining optimistic to see Swift. “We’d be shocked,” said Ali, if they were able to meet Swift. Passersby slow down as they pass the barricades surrounding the docking center on West 33rd Street, also hoping to get a glance at Swift. A public seating area is filled with over a dozen reporters gathered by Madison Square Garden. By 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, entrances to Penn Station remain open while all entrances into Madison Square Garden are closed.

Before Taylor and Travis, there were these celeb-athlete supercouples

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce aren't the first example of the marriage of entertainment and athletics. Here are some other celebrity supercouples who crossed both worlds.
Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio — The blonde bombshell and the Yankee Clipper met on a date set up by press agent David March and were married in January 1954. Nine months later, they were history.
Robin Givens and Mike Tyson — The heavyweight champ was anxious to meet the "Head of the Class" star, and reached out repeatedly to her management team. Eventually, they met and married in February 1988. Their stormy union was so much tabloid fodder. Ironically, their divorce was finalized on Valentine Days, 1989.
Halle Berry and David Justice — The Oscar winner proposed to the Atlanta Braves rightfielder and first-baseman five months after they met in 1992. They were married on New Year's Day in 1993 and divorced in June 1997.
Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady — The former New England Patriots quarterback broke up with actress Bridget Moynihan shortly after meeting the supermodel in December 2006. They were married in a private ceremony in February 2009 followed by a larger second ceremony with their families two months later. They ultimately divorced in October 2022.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade — Sports brought these two together when actor Union and basketball's Wade co-hosted a Super Bowl party in Miami in 2007. They didn't actually start dating until two years later and didn't get married until 2014. They're still together 12 years later.
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher — The country music star (and season 4 "American Idol" champ) had a thing for athletes, having previously dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo before meeting Fisher in 2008. She and the hockey star wed in July 2010 and have two children.
Ciara and Russell Wilson — A basketball game at the University of Wisconsin was the meeting place for the Grammy winner and the NFL Giants quarterback in 2015. They tied the knot in July 2016 and will celebrate their 10th anniversary on Monday.
Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen — The "Sinners" actor and Buffalo Bills quarterback began dating in May 2023 and were married exactly two years later. In April, they welcomed a daughter, Harper.
Taylor Swift's Madison Square Garden roots
It shouldn't really be a surprise that Taylor Swift is holding her wedding e at Madison Square Garden. After all, she sang the praises of the Garden back in 2012 in her song "The Lucky One," from her album "Red." "They say you bought a bunch of land somewhere/ Chose the rose garden over Madison Square/ And it took some time, but I understand it now," she wrote in the song, which, interestingly, is about not having any privacy once you're in the spotlight.
Swift's connection to the Garden goes even deeper: She has performed there eight times, first in 2003 when she sang an original song called "Lucky You" during a halftime talent competition at a Knicks game. (Obviously football isn't the only sport she loves.) In 2009, she brought her "Fearless" tour followed by her "Speak Now" tour two years later. And only last month, she was a spectator — along with her pal, actor Mariska Hargitay — for Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.
Some other famous (or somewhat famous) Swifts

As far as we know, none of these guys are related to Taylor Swift, but there have been other notable Swifts through the centuries:
- Jonathan Swift: 17th and 18th century Anglo-Irish writer, essayist, satirist and Anglican cleric best known as the author of "Gulliver’s Travels."
- Gustavus Franklin Swift: Massachusetts butcher who started his business as a teenager with just $25 and which eventually grew into the Swift Meat Company.
- Tom Swift: Main character of six series of American juvenile science fiction and adventure novels that emphasize science, invention and technology, which started in 1910.
- Bill Swift: Pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies from 1985 to 1998.
- Phil Swift: Ubiquitous infomercial pitchman for his company’s Flex Seal line of adhesive bonding products.
- Swifty Lazar: Legendary talent agent and dealmaker, representing both movie stars and authors.
Permit approved for MSG 'event'
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have their license, and now they have their permit. AP reports that on Wednesday night, the couple's application for a "Special Event at MSG" was approved by New York City’s permitting office, according to a spokesperson for Mayor Zohran Mamdani. And what an event it will be. On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., 100 guests are expected to arrive at Madison Square Garden for "a pre-party celebration." Of course, that will be an intimate affair compared to the 1,000 guests expected to descend on the Garden for Friday's "main event," which is set to begin at 5 p.m. and last until 4 a.m. Saturday.
Swift, Kelce donate $26M to charities
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have donated $26 million to more than 20 charities this week ahead of their wedding, Variety reported.
The recipients include nine food banks (including City Harvest and Food Bank for NYC), an animal cruelty organization, seven educational programs and three children’s hospitals (including Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone). Besides New York City, recipients will include sites in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Missouri, Nashville, Rhode Island and Cleveland.
Why we're obsessed with celeb weddings
According to Hannah Judson, a doctoral candidate at Stony Brook University who teaches a summer class called the "Sociology of Taylor Swift”: The singer “was one of the first musicians to take advantage of social media as a way of connecting with her fans. That's why people are so invested in her wedding. She's embodied life experiences for generations of fans." Judson adds that "the best term for this phenomenon is a feeling that a celebrity can be your best friend. That's significantly intensified" in recent years, in large measure due to Swift.
That’s one explanation for why we’re obsessed with Taylor and Travis’ nuptials, not to mention other celebrity weddings (think Charles and Diana, JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette). But there are plenty of other surprising reasons, including a declining marriage rate and the popularity of such shows as “Bridezillas” and “90 Day Fiancé.”
Newsday’s Verne Gay lays out all the details here.
The champs will return to MSG
The Knicks' starting five has secured an invite to the hottest party of the moment, according to reports.
Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns were invited to the wedding, Page Six reported. The guest list has been kept under wraps, with reports that those invited were required to sign NDAs. The wedding celebration, slated to run from 4 p.m. on Friday until 4 a.m. on Saturday, is expected to bring about 1,000 guests to Madison Square Garden. The venue most recently saw the Knicks play their way to the historic 2026 NBA Championship.

NYPD 'will have detail in place' for MSG event
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a press briefing Wednesday that the police "will have detail in place" for an "event we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night." Though she declined to go into specifics, a CNN reporter referenced an August 2024 terror plot targeting a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna, questioning whether or not the detail included heavy weapons teams, K-9s and the bomb squad. Tisch replied: "Our intelligence and counter-terrorism division does assessments of events that happen across the city and ... we will make sure that we have the appropriate resources based on their threat assessment for that specific, private event."
Page Six estimates the police presence to cost six figures, citing sources who said some 130 officers are expected to be present during the event.
Other weddings at MSG

More than 50 years ago, Madison Square Garden was the site of another celebrity wedding, albeit one with a lot less hype and speculation.
On June 5, 1974, Sly Stone, the charismatic leader of Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Sly and the Family Stone wed actress Kathy Silva in front of 23,000 fans who had come to hear the band's concert. The ceremony took place before the start of the show.
In his memoir, "Thank you (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)." Stone wrote: "I could do a gig, get paid, and get married at the same time ... We set the date for June 5, a Wednesday. We’d have a ceremony just before the concert, right there on the stage. Then a concert, then a party afterward at the rooftop lounge of the Waldorf Astoria."
According to The New Yorker, fashion designer Halston dressed the bride, groom and members of the wedding part in gold ensembles that cost $10,000 (about $68,000 in today's money).
Alas, the couple legally separated in 1976 and ultimately divorced.

Another MSG wedding involved a celebrity of another sort: the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial head of the Unification Church. On July 1, 1982, Moon officiated at the ceremony in which 2,075 couples from over 70 countries were wed simultaneously. Moon had personally matched each couple.
Brides wore identical white lace and satin gowns, while grooms wore matching blue suits with red ties.
It is not known how many of the couples remained married.
Fans look to the 'Easter egg queen'

Swifties say Taylor Swift is the "Easter egg queen." She's known for leaving hints for fans to uncover when it comes to her latest albums, so her wedding may be no different.
"She wants to drop little clues here and there," said longtime fan Alexandra Ali, 29, of Commack, an on-air personality at 106.1BLI. Swifites, whom Ali described as a strong bunch, are "very passionate about Taylor and her happiness, and this has been something that we have been waiting for, not even just for her, but as a fan base," she said.
Elizabeth Edquist, 32, of Glen Head, a Taylor Swift impersonator who runs Royal Princess Prep Entertainment, said she thinks the wedding is a distraction. Edquist, who has been a fan of Swift's music since her debut album in 2006, said she believes Madison Square Garden is an unusual place for Swift to hold her wedding and that "it just seems so impersonal."
Paige Felice, 13, of Miller Place has a different opinion about the venue.
"I think it’s very iconic, because it’s so famous," she said.
Swift's Long Island ties
So it looks like Taylor and Travis are getting hitched at MSG ... Well, why not? Taylor Swift has lots of connections to New York, and notably, Long Island. In 2014, she shot scenes for her "Blank Space" video at two of the Island's grand mansions — Oheka Castle in Huntington and Winfield Hall (aka the Woolworth Mansion) in Glen Cove. In the video, Swift played the revenge-minded girlfriend of model Sean O'Pry. Swift and O'Pry are living the life of Gatsby, complete with dramatic entrances down Oheka's grand staircase, pony rides along the tree-lined West Gate Drive and dinners in the grand ballroom. The fairy tale is soon shattered when Swift discovers O'Pry texting someone else while they picnic near the formal gardens. That's when the knife-brandishing, golf-club-wielding, mascara-streaked Angry Taylor arrives.
Swift performed at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on May 14 and 15, 2010, as part of her "Fearless Tour," which was her debut trek. The concerts featured opening acts Kellie Pickler and Gloriana. Her set list included songs from her "Fearless" album, including "You Belong With Me," "Our Song" and "Love Story." According to reports, the show included multiple costume changes.
And of course, over the years, many Swift tribute acts have attracted audiences to venues ranging from Mulcahy's in Wantagh to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. In addition, The Vanderbilt Planetarium in Centerport has also featured a Swift laser-light show as has Flagstar at Westbury Music Fair.

Celebrate on the East End
On Friday, restaurant 75 Main in Southampton will host a Swifties Wedding Celebration event, complete with Swift-inspired decor, a giant wedding cake and specialty cocktails inspired by the singer’s favorite drinks — including the French blonde (a blend of grapefruit juice, Lillet Blanc wine, gin elderflower liqueur and lemon bitters) and a vodka Diet Coke. Swift's hits will be played all night and the staff will be dressed in "Swifties Wedding Party" T-shirts.
"Whether you’re spending the holiday weekend in the Hamptons or you’re a devoted Swiftie looking for the perfect place to celebrate, we wanted to create a magical night where fans can sing, dance, and enjoy the excitement together," 75 Main owner Zach Erdem said in an emailed statement.
The celebration is expected to start between 10 and 11 p.m. and to draw hundreds of fans, visitors and Hamptons regulars, according to the release — though the bride and groom are not likely to attend.
