Just as they did on-screen in 1984, the Muppets are once again about to take Manhattan.
Kermit the Frog and friends will be coming to Broadway for the holidays in the family-friendly show "Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests The Muppets," which will begin previews Oct. 28 at the Broadhurst Theatre before opening Nov. 6. Tickets go on sale Sept. 4. For more information on the show, which will run through Jan. 18, go to roblakebroadway.com.
"Like so many people around the world, I grew up with The Muppets. To work with them and create new illusions for them to appear in my show has been the most rewarding and surprisingly familiar moment," Lake, an illusionist who made it to the quarterfinals of "America's Got Talent" in 2018, said in a statement Wednesday. "It’s like I have known them my entire life.”
No specifics were given on what roles the Muppets will play, other than they will "help bring their own wacky humor and magic to the illusions," according to the press announcement.
The show will mark the long-awaited Broadway debut for the Muppets. While it also serves as the Broadway bow for Lake, who is a former illusion designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, he did provide initial illusion contributions to the current musical hit "Death Becomes Her."
