Spring is in sight and that means Adventureland in Farmingdale is getting ready to reopen on March 20. The 64-year-old amusement park will unveil three new rides and two new games for its 2026 season.

"Each season is a bit different based on what’s planned," manager Jeanine Pacella says.

This season marks the third year of a multiphase $10 million park redevelopment plan that launched in 2024. The original plan was to complete all five phases by 2028; park officials are hoping to finish even sooner.

While on hiatus since late October, Adventureland has undergone some renovations to make room for three new rides, two new midway games and more.

"Our old log flume ride took up a lot of space and we are using that location to expand the park," Pacella says. "The entire area has been transformed into what we now call Legacy Corner."

The old log flume ride Adventure Falls, which closed at the end of 2024, and thrill ride Moon Chaser have been removed.

The Moon Chaser made its debut at the park in 2024 and was the first ride added after the redevelopment announcement. The short-lived amusement reflects the "rejiggering" of development plans, Pacella says, but "Moon Chaser was never planned to stay here for the long term, it was a short-term ride," she says.

The removal of the log flume and Moon Chaser opened up 45,000 square feet for two new attractions.

Enter Wave Twister, by Ride Engineers of Switzerland. Despite its title, this is a non-water-based ride, holding 12 people per circle-shaped car that spins around as you go from side to side.

"Wave Twister is a boomerang-looking ride that’s on a roller coaster track. It gives you the feeling of riding on a wave," Pacella says. "There will be a thrill factor in there, but it won’t be super scary because we want the younger kids to be able to enjoy it."

Wave Twister will not be operational for opening weekend; Pacella said it is expected this spring. The next ride expected this spring is The Ram, made by Huss Park Attractions of Germany, a fresh take on the classic pirate ship that swings back and forth.

"We used to have a pirate ship and we got rid of it. People loved it and were wondering why it left," Pacella adds.  "At the time, the pirate ship was the oldest ride in the park and it was hard to keep up with the maintenance. It was a fan favorite and now we’re bringing it back with a different theme."

The new theme ties in with the ride’s name, which stems from SUNY Farmingdale’s sports teams, The Rams.

"We are sort of in each other’s backyard. It made sense to do something together," Pacella says. "The Ram theme will be part of the ship. It will still have the pirate aesthetic mixed in."

Pacella says the pirate ship will appeal to a larger group of riders than the Moon Chaser did as its height requirement is lower. "It was a more universal ride," she says. "We felt the timing was right" to bring it back.

NEW GAMES, NEW EATS

Two new midway games are coming to Legacy Corner. Wave Blaster is focused on shooting water into targets as they light up, and in Jungle Run players roll a ball into holes to move an animal across the board. Whoever’s animal reaches the other side first is the winner.

A new food stand called Legacy Bites is set to serve up jumbo pretzels, churros, chicken tenders with fries and other specialty foods in snack bite form.

NEW CAROUSEL

The park’s traditional carousel, which is next to the birthday party entrance, is being replaced this season by a new double-decker carousel created by Bertazzon of Italy. It will be handicap accessible and can hold up to 60 people.

"It will still have that Venetian look to it, but it’ll be updated," Pacella says. "In addition to the horses, we are planning to add a variety of animals to ride like a tiger, a lion, a zebra, a giraffe and a panda."

Adventureland closes after the last weekend in October and reopens toward the end of March the following year. The park contains 27 rides with 13 midway games and a restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating for more than 300. When school is in session during the spring and fall, Adventureland is open on weekends and holidays. In summer, it’s open seven days a week.

"At Adventureland, we are always looking to enhance our customers’ experience," Pacella says. "We are really excited about this year both for us and the guests. It should be a great season."

Admission prices for the 2026 season will be $51.50 (including fees) plus tax for ages 2 to 24, which is a $2 year-over-year increase. Tickets remain at the 2025 price of $39.50 plus tax for ages 25 and older.
