Across Long Island and beyond, brands are drawing on local landmarks, traditions and coastal culture to create pieces that feel both personal and familiar. From graphic hoodies to home goods, these items offer a fresh way to represent where you're from, or where you love to be.

Some businesses are rooted here, drawing from personal experience and community ties. Others take cues from the laid-back feel of summers spent out east. Either way, each product captures a little of what makes the Island feel like home. Here are a few places to shop for products that channel the Long Island state of mind.

Known for shuttling travelers between New York City and the East End, Hampton Jitney is now helping riders gear up for their getaways, too. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the bus company released a limited-edition weekend bag in collaboration with sailmakers, Wm. J. Mills & Co., an over 135-year-old family business based in Greenport.

"Hampton Jitney has a tradition of supporting and promoting local businesses," says Andrew Lynch, transportation executive and vice president at Hampton Jitney. "While researching ways to celebrate our 50th anniversary, Wm. J. Mills was on our short list owing not only to their location along our service route in Greenport but also to the extreme high quality of their products and the skill of their on-site employees."

Made of durable canvas, it features a zippered top for secure packing and custom Hampton Jitney branding, including 50th anniversary lettering. It’s designed for everything from a beach day to a weekend trip out east.

The bag was developed in person with Bob Mills, says Lynch. It’s available for $199.99 on the Hampton Jitney website, while supplies last.

Turning their memories of Long Island summers into their own brand of beach-inspired apparel and accessories, sisters Paige and Madison Governale launched Wave Creations in 2020 from their home in Manhasset.

Their business began with just beaded jewelry and stickers before expanding into clothing. Now, one of their most popular items is the $60 Sunrise Highway hoodie — a bright, beachy design that nods to the route they've taken their whole lives to the shore for summer beach days.

"We take our inspiration from the whole island and that's where the Sunrise Highway design came from," Madison says. "We grew up taking Sunrise to the beach every summer from Nassau to Suffolk."

The design is also available as a T-shirt and long sleeve. Another item, the $34 Vintage Islander T-shirt, designed in collaboration with Stoke Design Co., also celebrates hometown pride with "Long Island" alongside a beach-themed illustration of a Jeep, sun and waves. It was inspired by the Ponquogue Bridge.

The sisters continue to run the brand while attending college, creating each design concept themselves and working with local partners to produce everything on the island. Products are available online and in 18 stores across five states.

The Shop in Malverne has Long Island-themed decor and apparel.

The Shop in Malverne offers a wide-ranging mix of apparel, home decor and personalized gifts. Owner Diana Bucci stocks everything from sweatshirts to key chains and pillows, many of which can be customized with the name of a specific Long Island town.

A standout is the "Real Housewives"-themed line, which puts a local spin on the Bravo franchise with slogans like "The Real Housewives of [Town Name]" on towels, baby gear and more.

"Everyone loves the housewives," Bucci says. "There’s an option for babies, toddlers and if someone comes in and I don’t have their town, I’ll just order it."

Bucci opened the boutique in October and says the mix of humor and town-specific designs has made it a go-to for customers looking for gifts that feel fun and personal.

Sisters Jamesine Nolan and Casey Bristian opened Honey + Hive in 2023 after having kids of their own and realizing there wasn’t a local spot in Montauk for baby basics or gifts. "Once we had kids, we noticed how limited the options were out here," Nolan says.

The boutique carries a mix of everything from everyday essentials to birthday presents for any child. A bestseller is the $32 organic cotton Sunshine Montauk Onesie, screen-printed in California and finished with a sun, wave or sailboat graphic.

Another staple is the $38 tee with "Montauk Daydream" on the front and words on the back that describe "what a summer in Montauk growing up looked like to us," Nolan says.

A custom Montauk hat is also set to launch this season.
