Upon walking into The House of D women’s boutique in Northport, you may be surprised to find that the 23-year-old, DeDreanna Annino, who greets you at the door, is the store’s owner. In November, DeDreanna, also known by many as "D," opened up her own clothing boutique, alongside her mother, Natalie Annino. The young entrepreneur, however, is no stranger to the world of retail and with the support of her parents became her "own boss" before even turning 25.

While she may be young, D Annino has a lengthy resume when it comes to retail and fashion. At 18, D moved to Manhattan to attend fashion school at LIM College. She got her start working at Frame, a denim company, where she eventually became sales supervisor at 19. D later moved to the Isabel Marant storefront, where she gained experience in visual merchandising, window display and store styling. After rising to the position of assistant manager, D set her sights on something bigger, knowing she always wanted to become her own boss.

D credits her parents as the force that helped her achieve her dreams. "My parents are the reason I was able to take this leap," D explained. With their push and full support, D and her mother came up with the idea of creating a mother-daughter-run boutique. The dynamic between the two is the recipe for a great pair of business partners, as their generational experience balances out one another — making The House Of D a perfect store for women of all ages.

D and Natalie wanted to establish an inclusive one-stop shop. As many stores these days cater to only one generation of women, they strived to deviate from that standard — creating a mother-daughter-owned business where mother and daughters can shop together.

With a price range of $20 to $228, the House of D offers clothes for all occasions — from casual wear for moms always on the run to business attire for the working woman, D and Natalie love to work with each of their customers, helping them curate a wardrobe that makes them feel and look their best.

The House of D, 1019 Fort Salonga Rd., Suite L, Northport, 631-239-1650.
