Hicksville's Sugar Bae Dessert Cafe closes

Hicksville’s Sugar Bae Dessert Cafe is swapping late-night sweets for an elevated brunch experience as it transforms into Indulge Cafe.
A message appeared on the cafe's Instagram Sunday night stating the cafe had closed and a new concept was in the works, promising "a new team, a new vision and a new experience."
"Sugar Bae Cafe was a dream and these past five years were truly memorable," the post reads. "However, like any story, we are ready to flip the page and start a new chapter."
Sugar Bae Cafe was opened in 2021 by co-owners and husband-and-wife duo Veena Prithani and Shahzeb Khan. They did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday. The cafe’s phone number seems to be disconnected and Google lists the cafe’s hours as only Sunday from 4 to 11 p.m. The cafe's website is no longer online.

Sugar Bae Cafe customers were able to customize their caffeinated beverages with edible doodles and even selfies. The menu included crepes stuffed with lotus cookies, New York cheesecake and Hong Kong-style "bubble waffles" served with gelato or topped with whipped cream and caramel, Newsday previously reported.
Indulge Cafe will offer a high tea experience and luxury desserts, the Instagram post states. An opening date was not announced.
