John Mayer will be taking over Amagansett’s Stephen Talkhouse Wednesday night for their annual Sirius XM show, but if you’re shopping or eating in town, he might also have taken over your favorite coffee shop or boutique.
Eight business owners have come up with "punny" John Mayer-themed treats, which are being sold all day Wednesday. Sirius XM's Marisa Fair told Newsday this was the first yearit has done a "takeover" like this to promote the show. She said she looked for stores within a mile of the iconic East End venue, which draws artists such as Ed Sheeran and Metallica annually for the exclusive Sirius XM show.

"We've seen quite a few people coming in and excited that we were running something to go along with John Mayer's concert," said Laura Brady, general manager of Sett Coffee and The Clam Bar.
Stephen White, brand director for Rosie's, said, "We love this time of year and we love celebrating the community and collaborating with Sirius XM and fun artists that are coming through. It's always a good boost of energy when the show happens."
Fair said she started brainstorming to make this happen a few weeks ago. She got the businesses on board after sending an email pitch.
"I was just trying to think of some fun ways we could let more people know about the event. I know there’s a lot of hoopla around it but the event itself is really important and also the fact that we’re broadcasting the event afterward too because it is such a small [capacity] event, we wanted to be able to get people to get into the spirit even if they weren’t necessarily able to get into the show."
Mayer's team is "well aware" of the takeover, and they’re excited to help participate by providing the signed vinyls for Innersleeve records, she said.
They are already looking ahead to the takeover for whoever plays next year, Fair said.
"It’s our love letter to the city we take over," she said.
