When the North Fork Foodie Tour began in 2007, the bounty of the region it highlighted was largely unknown — even to Long Islanders. Now the towns of Riverhead and Southold are known throughout the tristate area for their agricultural and culinary treasures. But the tour, organized by North Fork Reform Synagogue, may still be the best way to explore at your own pace.

You’ll have access to 19 venues when the tour comes Sept. 13. It will also include the opportunity to meet the farmers, winemakers, brewers and chefs responsible for some of Long Island’s most celebrated foods. Ticket holders ($35 each) can chart their own course for the day, using the map they receive as a guide to take advantage of special tours and demos planned for the day.

New to the 2026 tour are Peeko Oysters, headquartered in the charming waterside hamlet of New Suffolk; Lenz Winery of Peconic, a North Fork pioneer established in 1978; Zafferano, a no-till farm in Mattituck that grows, among its vegetables and medicinal herbs, the prized spice saffron.

Returning participants include two establishments that have been on the tour since the beginning: Lavender by the Bay in Calverton, Long Island’s best-smelling farm, and Catapano Dairy Farm, known for its goats and cheese.
