Loaded toasts, fresh juice and coffee are getting a glow up in Woodbury this winter: Toastique is opening in Woodbury, the first on Long Island for the Washington, D.C.-based chain, which has more than 50 locations in Arizona, California, Florida and beyond. The chain's other New York locations are in Manhattan near Bryant Park and in New Rochelle.
The fast-casual eatery will be at a former Dugan’s Sandwich Shop at 8027 Jericho Tpke.. Local franchise owners Chris and Andrea Pedersen plan to open in late January or early February, after working on this outpost for about two years. They want this to be a place “where all the family could go,” Andrea Pedersen said.
The menu includes both sweet and savoy gourmet toasts (think walnut-raisin toast topped with peanut butter, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, berry jam, granola and peanuts with a honey drizzle). Savory options will include smoked salmon and Tuscan tuna. Cold-pressed juices, smoothies and coffee round out the beverages. They plan to serve alcohol, think frosé (frozen rosé), spicy margaritas and mimosas.
“Even though it’s a franchise, we really want to operate this as though it’s a small business," Andrea Pedersen said. “We’re going to be operating this as a family unit, our kids are going to be in there working and they’re going to learn it from the ground up as well because we want this to be something that they can take over and be really proud of that we’ve brought to the community.”
Toastique, 8027 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, toastique.com. Starting this winter, open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
