Daniel Verbeke, of Babylon, was riding a 2026 Yamaha on Wading River Road, just south of Maple Lane, when the motorcycle “left the roadway and struck a boulder and a mailbox” at about 1:56 p.m., according to a police news release.

Verbeke was transported to NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and are asking anyone with information to call 631-852-8752.
