9/11 and Walls of Honor Ceremony
25th Anniversary of Attacks on America to Include Musical Interludes, Religious Readings and Reciting of Names on September 11th Memorial & Walls of Honor. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board invite residents to the Town’s Annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony. The town’s 9/11 Memorial – featuring a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center – is inscribed with the names of residents lost on September 11, 2001. The Walls of Honor monument expands each year with newly inscribed names of those who lost their battle with 9/11-illness caused by exposure at Ground Zero.
International Coastal Cleanup Day
Help collect debris on the Preserve’s beautiful beach and be a part of the international initiative to clean up waterways around the globe. Each year the Ocean Conservancy engages people to clean up their local beaches and waterways and analyzes the debris so valuable data about waste can be assessed.
