Two officers were injured after a Valley Stream man damaged several vehicles and struck an occupied police car multiple times on Tuesday, Nassau police said.
Around 9:51 p.m., Shawn Maraj, 31, was observed damaging multiple vehicles on West Valley Stream Boulevard in Valley Stream, according to a Nassau County Police Department news release.
When officers arrived, Maraj got into his 2018 Honda Civic and deliberately struck an occupied police vehicle, causing non-life-threatening injuries to two officers inside, police said.
Maraj then drove across a lawn and struck a fence and bush.
Detectives found Maraj a short time later and arrested him without incident.
Maraj was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree attempted assault, second-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, police said.
He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
