A 21-year-old Lawrence man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a crossbow at a woman, grazing and cutting her face, Nassau County police said.

Officers responded to a call at a home on West Avenue in Lawrence about 9:23 p.m. Friday and found a 28-year-old woman bleeding from the right side of her face, according to a news release.

Detectives determined that Samy Sedhom, 21, had fired an arrow from a crossbow toward the woman, a weapon that grazed and cut her face. Sedhom was arrested at the scene without incident, police said.

Sedhom was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and first-degree stalking, police said.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Sedhom was arraigned on Sunday, and an order of protection was issued for his victim, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
