A former Lindenhurst school custodian is expected to serve 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to filming himself while sexually abusing a child, Suffolk County prosecutors said.
Brian Woehr, 41, of Lindenhurst, entered his guilty plea Friday to two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance as a sexually motivated felony. He was initially charged with more than 100 child sex-related offenses and possession of child sexual abuse materials, prosecutors said.
The Suffolk police digital forensics unit was notified by the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that Woehr had uploaded several child sexual abuse photos to a Google account, prosecutors said.
Woehr's crimes did not occur while he was employed by the school district, prosecutors said. They do not believe any of his victims were former students.
Police served a search warrant at Woehr’s home in April 2025, where detectives seized his phone and found several photos and videos of abuse he created and shared, including of him sexually abusing a young child, prosecutors said.
Lindenhurst school officials previously said Woehr worked as a substitute custodian from 2018 to 2021. He was fired in 2021 for unrelated reasons before his arrest.
"The admitted actions of this defendant are deplorable," Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a statement. "Children deserve protection and trust from the adults around them, and Brian Woehr violated both in an unconscionable way. He has now pleaded guilty, and my office will ensure he is held accountable."
Prosecutors did not say where Woehr met any of the child victims.
Woehr’s defense attorney could not be reached for comment. Woehr is being held in jail, remanded without bail.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 6 to 17 years in prison and 15 years of post-supervision release, prosecutors said.
