Police have identified a homicide victim found early Monday morning in a parking lot near a marina in Stony Brook as Christopher Millwater, 52, of Selden.

Citing the ongoing investigation, Suffolk County police have not released details of how Millwater was killed, stating only that he was a "victim of violence."

Police said Millwater was found injured in a parking lot along Shore Road at about 3:40 a.m. and said he was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The parking lot is used for several area marinas, as well as for parking for the Town of Brookhaven boat ramp at Stony Brook.

Police are searching for a suspect. They ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
