A Westbury man has been indicted on new charges for allegedly speeding more than 100 mph while driving drunk on the Meadowbrook State Parkway, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced.

Deondre Clark, 36, slammed into another car, causing one of its passengers to sustain life-threatening injuries after they were ejected through the rear window, Donnelly said in a news release.

About 2:48 a.m. on May 24, Clark was driving 106 mph in a 2025 Toyota Camry on the parkway near Exit M5 in East Meadow when he rear-ended a 2015 Honda Pilot with four occupants. The Pilot "spun out," causing the right rear passenger to be ejected, Donnelly’s office said. The passenger suffered "a brain bleed, facial fractures, and a dislocated humerus" — a long arm bone — and was intubated, according to the release. The driver and the other two passengers had minor injuries.

Clark exited the Camry, spotted the victim lying on the parkway and fled on foot, the district attorney said.

"As the victim fought for their life on the pavement, the defendant ran away to save himself," Donnelly said in a statement. "It is a miracle the victim is alive today, but surviving this horrific crash is only the beginning of a long road to recovery."

A Nassau County police officer apprehended Clark near the exit ramp, according to the release. He was sent to a hospital after he complained of pain. A toxicology test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was .21%, more than 2.5 times the legal limit, about three-and-a-half hours after the crash.

New York State Police arrested him later that day and charged him with driving while intoxicated, felony assault and reckless driving, Newsday previously reported.

On Friday, Clark pleaded not guilty before acting Supreme Court Justice Joseph Giardi to two counts of aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of first-degree vehicular assault, second-degree assault, two counts of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, according to court records.

Giardi ordered Clark held on $200,000 cash bail, $400,000 bond or $2 million partially secured bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 18.

Clark faces up to 7 to 15 years in prison if convicted, according to Donnelly’s office.

His defense attorney, Karen Johnston, did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment late Friday.
