Public education employees statewide were paid a combined total of nearly $19.7 billion during the 2024-25 school year, according to data reported to the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System and obtained by Newsday under the state's Freedom of Information Law. Salaries for educators on Long Island totaled $6.4 billion.
