Eight people rescued from boat taking on water off Sands Point, authorities say

Eight passengers were rescued from a vessel that was taking on water off Sands Point on Friday night, according to the NYPD.
The 62-foot boat suffered damage to the hull, which triggered the damage, a police spokesperson said.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. in the vicinity of Success Rock, a news release said.
The Nassau County Marine Bureau, Town of North Hempstead Bay Constables, U.S. Coast Guard, Rye Police Department Marine Bureau and the FDNY Marine Bureau all assisted in the rescue.
No injuries were reported.
