A Patchogue man is dead following a head-on collision Friday morning that closed Bethpage State Parkway between the Southern State Parkway and Boundary Avenue for more than four hours, state police said.
Jordan Nasir St. Fort Colin, 23, of Patchogue, was killed in the crash, state police said. His 2012 Nissan Altima was struck "head on" by a 2019 Hyundai Sonata that crossed over the yellow double line, a state police spokeswoman confirmed to Newsday on Saturday.
The crash was reported at 9:39 a.m. Friday closing the roadway, which reopened shortly after 2 p.m., police said.
The Sonata driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the spokeswoman. Police have not yet provide additional detail about the nature of that driver's injuries.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, police confirmed.
As of Saturday around noon, it was not yet clear what caused the Sonata to cross into oncoming traffic.
