A fire heavily damaged an East Meadow home Friday night before scores of firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze, according to the East Meadow Fire Department.

The two-story home on Maitland Street caught fire shortly before midnight. About 60 firefighters from East Meadow, North Bellmore, Wantagh and North Merrick extinguished the fire in about 45 minutes.

No one was injured, according to a statement Saturday from the East Meadow Fire Department, which said the residents of the house were not home when the fire broke out.

The house suffered "heavy fire damage," the department said.

The agency did not provide information on the cause of the fire, saying it was under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Nassau County police arson-bomb squad.

A Nassau police spokesperson said Saturday afternoon that the fire appeared to be non-criminal.
