A person was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train near Westbury station Saturday afternoon, the Metropolitan Transit Authority Police said.

The person, who was not identified by the MTA Police, was not authorized to be on the track and was struck by a westbound train east of the station shortly after 2:20 p.m., according to a news release. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by Nassau County Fire Rescue.

No criminality is suspected. An investigation is ongoing, the MTA police said.

The train, No. 7959, was headed to Penn Station from Ronkonkoma. None of the train's 200 passengers or its crew were hurt, the MTA Police said. The passengers boarded another westbound train.

There were 20- to 30-minute delays on the LIRR's Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches following the incident due to police activity at Westbury that have since been cleared.
