Single-car crash in North Hills kills 87-year-old woman

An 87-year old woman died Tuesday morning in North Hills after the car she was driving struck a pole, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The woman, who was not identified, was driving a 2005 Buick southbound on Shelter Rock Road in the area of Fairway Drive around 10:30 a.m. The car hit a pole and she was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
No other details of the accident were immediately available and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
