Nassau police Thursday identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car in Glen Head Tuesday night.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Impala around 10:26 p.m. Tuesday as they crossed Glen Cove Road near Cedar Swamp Road, Newsday previously reported.

Police identified Jose Ruben Fernandez, 45, of Glen Cove as the victim of the incident in a news release Thursday evening.

Ruben Fernandez "suffered severe trauma" and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in the release.

The 25-year-old male behind the wheel of the Impala remained at the scene, police said. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
