Police at the scene early Monday where a woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Glen Cove. Credit: Paul Mazza

A Glen Cove woman walking across a city street early Monday was struck and killed by a pickup truck, the Nassau County Police Department said.

Claudia Moncada, 69, was heading east on Glen Cove Road about 6:02 a.m. when she was hit by a red 2018 Dodge Challenger heading north, the police department said in a news release.

Moncada was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating, the department said.
