A dawn house fire in Valley Stream left one person seriously injured Thursday, Nassau County fire officials said.
The fire in the two-story Cape Cod-style home on North Terrace Place was reported at 6:10 a.m.
Assistant Chief Fire Marshal Andrew Schmitt Jr. said in an emailed statement that one resident of the home was evacuated by firefighters and transported to Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow in serious condition. Additional details were not immediately available.
No other injuries were reported, officials said.
About 65 firefighters from Valley Stream, Elmont, Hewlett, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood and Woodmere fought the fire, bringing it under control in 45 minutes, officials said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the fire marshal's office and detectives from the Nassau police Arson / Bomb Squad.
