The driver of a speeding truck died in a predawn single-vehicle crash on the Northern State Parkway on Thursday, according to the New York State Police.

Osmond Duarte, 21, the driver, was found dead in the road on the eastbound side of the parkway, east of Exit 41, Wolf Hill Road, in Dix Hills, state police said.

Investigators determined that Duarte was driving the 2011 Hino commercial flatbed truck at "an unsafe speed," state police said, when it crashed into the center median and overturned. Duarte was thrown from the truck, they said.

The call reporting the crash came in at about 6:24 a.m., state police said.
