New York State Police said Long Island residents should prepare for road closures leading up to the 45th Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, as more than 250,000 spectators are expected to visit, causing substantial congestion next week.
The tournament, which begins on Tuesday at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, will feature increased security measures until the final match on Sept. 28.
A presidential visit is expected on Sept. 26, when spectators should also expect heightened security measures.
State police announced Round Swamp Road would be closed from Winding Road to Quaker Meeting House Road during final preparations for the event.
Round Swamp Road will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It also will be closed from Winding Road to Quaker Meeting House Road from Monday at 6 a.m. until Sept. 29 at 6 a.m.
In addition, Quaker Meeting House Road will be closed from Tuesday through Sept. 28 from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Clubhouse Road from Bethpage State Parkway will be closed except for rideshare vehicles starting Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, police said.
Ryder Cup officials said carpooling was highly encouraged as there will be no street parking. There may be extended wait times for rideshare vehicles during peak departure hours from Bethpage State Park.
There is no public parking or drop-offs at or around Bethpage State Park during Ryder Cup week, the website said.
Spectators using rideshare services will be picked up and dropped off at the Ryder Cup’s official rideshare lot at 99 Quaker Meeting House Rd.
Rideshare users can enter "Bethpage Ryder Cup Rideshare Lot" as the destination in their app of choice.
In addition, Uber Shuttle will offer departures to Manhattan every 10 minutes during peak hours.
Ryder Cup rideshare hours include:

Spectators traveling via the Long Island Rail Road should ride to the Farmingdale train station (Ronkonkoma Line/Main Line), where complimentary shuttle service will be provided to and from the main entrance at Bethpage State Park, the Ryder Cup website said.
Expanded train service will be provided during Ryder Cup week, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said on its website.
