Volunteers came from "about 18" departments, the Suffolk FRES spokesperson said.

The fire was deemed under control about 2:44 p.m., the FRES official said.

Photographs from the scene indicate firefighters were battling a plume of black, thick smoke emanating from an area occupied by large yellow construction equipment.

FRES and Suffolk County Police Department officials could not immediately provide any information regarding whether anyone was injured during the blaze.
