A bicyclist was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital Tuesday afternoon following a crash in Greenlawn, police said.

Officers responded about 1 p.m. to the collision between a 75-year-old male bicyclist and a Subaru on Pulaski Road at the intersection of Butterfield Drive, Suffolk police said in a news release.

The man was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said. His condition was considered serious but not life threatening.

The investigation had closed Pulaski Road for several hours between Frazer Drive and Cuba Hill Road. Police impounded the Subaru for a safety check.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
