An Islip Terrace man drowned in his backyard pool Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

A friend of Seamus McGuickian, 63, called 911 after discovering him unresponsive in the pool on Irish Lane just around 3:15 p.m., according to a news release.

He was pulled from the water, but he could not be revived, police said.

McGuickian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suffolk County detectives were investigating the death, but they did not believe there was any criminality involved.

McGuickian's family could not immediately be reached.
