Islip Town is investigating “unusual activity” that was detected on the town's computer system Friday.
Details surrounding the activity, including how it was discovered and what could have been affected, were not immediately shared by the town.
Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter told Newsday on Friday night that all necessary protocols were followed.
“Out of an abundance of caution and because it’s a holiday weekend, we are able to limit access as we thoroughly review any potential unauthorized use of the system,” Carpenter said.
Town officials did not immediately share more information about the investigation.
