A Shirley woman who was struck by a car and seriously injured Saturday morning while walking in the hamlet has died, the Suffolk County Police Department said Wednesday.

Theresa Nicke, 64, of Shirley, was walking on the right shoulder of Dawn Drive in Shirley when she was struck around 7:30 a.m. by an eastbound 2013 Buick Regal near Pinelawn Avenue, police said in a news release.

Nicke was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The driver was not injured, police said.

The Buick was impounded for a safety check, police said. Suffolk police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
