Dead body of man found in Three Mile Harbor in Springs by clammers

A group of people clamming discovered a dead body Friday evening in Three Mile Harbor in Springs, according to East Hampton Town police.
The deceased man, whose identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, may have suffered a medical emergency that led to his death, officials said.
Police were notified at 7:36 p.m. to the report that an unresponsive man had been found on an "exposed grass island" in the water off Folkstone Road. The deceased person was found with equipment for harvesting shellfish, police said.
An investigation is underway to determine a cause of death. Detectives have not found evidence indicating any suspicious circumstances or foul play, police said.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and is also investigating the cause of death.
