Pedestrian struck on Sunrise Highway Exit 51 ramp, police say

The westbound side of Sunrise Highway in the Patchogue area was closed for more than three hours early Sunday after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured, Suffolk County police said.
Shortly after 4 a.m. a driver exiting the highway at Exit 51 struck a pedestrian who was standing on the ramp, according to a police report. The injured person was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. The driver was not hurt.
The westbound side of the road was closed for the investigation before reopening around 7:30 a.m., police said.
