New York-area airports are seeing delays of at least two hours due to expected thunderstorms and heavy rain on Thursday afternoon

Kennedy and LaGuardia airports reported average ground delays of nearly two hours just before 4 p.m.

Newark reported ground delays of nearly three hours. The forecast delays were expected to last until 11 p.m. Thursday.

There were 126 flights canceled at Kennedy with 145 delays reported at 4 p.m., according to FlightAware.

LaGuardia reported 149 cancellations and 182 delays.

Newark reported 283 flight delays and 49 cancellations.

No cancellations were reported at Long Island MacArthur.

Airports advise travelers to check with their carriers about flights.

Full ground stops were in effect at Reagan Washington National Airport, Philadelphia and Orlando through Thursday afternoon because of thunderstorms.
