"It's not just about the wages" said Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen General Chairman Michael Sullivan. He spoke about the LIRR contract negotiations while on the picket line Saturday morning.

Commuters flood Track 16 for the 11:37 p.m. LIRR train to Ronkonkoma, which could be the last train out of Penn Station before a potential strike hits.

Starting at Friday night, two upper level eastbound and westbound lanes of the Trans-Manhattan Expressway will close through sometime next week as crews conduct inspections following falling debris, the Port Authority said.

The deadline to avoid a Long Island Rail Road strike is approaching, with negotiations still at a standstill. Newsday Transportation reporter Alfonso Castillo has more.
