Person struck and killed by LIRR train in Westbury

A person was struck and killed by a train in Westbury Wednesday morning, the railroad said.
The person, a 30-year-old from Farmingville, was struck at around 5:38 a.m. and declared dead at the scene, according to Renee Price, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which runs the LIRR.
More information about the incident was not immediately released.
The crash also caused severe disruptions on the railroad that were resolved later in the morning.
