Eliseo Colatosti ID'd as worker killed in truck rollover at Hicksville facility

Police have identified Eliseo Colatosti as the worker killed when a truck ran over him at a Hicksville trucking business Monday.

Nassau County police, in a news release on Thursday, said Colatosti was a 66-year-old resident of Hicksville.

Hicksville Fire Department Dispatcher Chris Mercadante said the incident happened at Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service at 880 S. Oyster Bay Rd. around 3 p.m. on Monday.

"There was a worker there and the truck backed over him and killed him," Mercadante said. "He apparently was working on the truck or something and it ran over him."

Police confirmed the account on Tuesday, saying the truck rolled over the victim and that he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A call to Gabrielli Truck Sales and Service was not immediately returned.

A spokeswoman for the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the agency has initiated an investigation.
