Bitter cold through Monday with chance of light weekend snow, forecasters say

Long Island can expect bitter, below-average temperatures through Monday, with the possibility of light snow Saturday night into Sunday morning.
National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Radell said that while there's a slight chance of snow Saturday night into early Sunday, it most likely will amount to a dusting.
"At this point, it does not look like much," Radell said. "That's really the only chance of anything through the first or middle part of next week."
Temperatures will remain below average through the weekend, with highs of around 30 on Friday and Saturday.
But with wind chill values, temperatures will feel like it's between 10 and 20 on Friday and 15 and 20 on Saturday, the service said.
Conditions will begin to warm up just slightly Sunday and Monday, with the mercury reaching the low to mid 30s.
Some relief from the cold is expected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, when highs will be in the 40s, reaching 45 on Thursday.
