Francisco Lindor was dealing with more than a broken pinkie toe last season.
The Mets on Wednesday announced that their All-Star shortstop recently underwent a right elbow debridement procedure. He’s expected to be ready for spring training.
An elbow debridement is a minimally invasive procedure meant to remove damaged tissue or foreign debris from the joint when other, non-surgical options have been exhausted, according to Resurgens Orthopaedics, one of the country’s largest orthopedic practices.
Lindor, who also played with a broken toe that he sustained in early June, finished with a .267/.346/.466 slash line, hit 31 homers and stole 31 bases — his second time in the 30-30 club. He did have a defensively down year, with 13 errors and a career-low 5 outs above average, per FanGraphs.
Lindor was also named a finalist for the NL Silver Slugger award on Wednesday, joining Pete Alonso and Juan Soto. Lindor has won the award four other times, and Alonso, who compiled 38 homers and 126 RBIs, has never earned the honor. Soto, who hit 43 home runs and tied for the NL lead with 38 stolen bases, had an MLB-best .396 on-base percentage and would be in line for his sixth Silver Slugger.
