Why were the Red Sox delayed?
Red Sox pitcher Payton Tolle said the same plane had two separate problems causing delays.
In regards to Thursday, he said “the tug broke.” Then Friday it was a light bulb issue, he said.
“Same plane, different issue,” he said.

Red Sox CF Ceddanne Rafaela: 'We're ready'
“Yeah, it was tough,” Boston’s Ceddanne Rafaela said of the flight delays. “Obviously, wanted to get early in yesterday, get some some rest, and be ready for today, but didn't happen. We went back to the hotel, got some rest, and came in early, and we didn't take off again. But yeah, we’re here and we're ready as a team.”
Here's more from Rafaela talking about the plane issues and making the All-Star Game.

Who makes the call on if the Red Sox-Mets game gets delayed?
Mets interim manager Andy Green explained what he's heard about the Red Sox plane issues.
“I heard this morning that they didn't get out last night. And for whatever reason, they struggled again getting out this morning. So, yeah, I became aware of it early this morning. I was not awake at the point in time when they were still sitting on the runway last night.”
Green said he never had any experience with a flight snafu like Boston’s, “even with a lot of years in minor-league baseball and Triple-A.”
“I think I had some times where maybe we arrived at 2 o'clock for a 7 o'clock game, but we're well past 2 o'clock already, and they're airborne,” Green said. “Unfortunate set of circumstances.”
He also was asked if MLB is solely in control of the situation or if the home team has some input.
“I don't have the answer to that,” Green said. “I know David [Stearns] is involved in conversations right now, and we'll wait and see what happens. We're hanging in with the rest of you right now.”

No Red Sox at Citi Field yet
There’s a baseball game happening at Citi Field on Friday night, and the Mets are taking home-field advantage to another level – though to no fault of their own.
The Red Sox, who finished their series with the White Sox in Chicago on Thursday afternoon, were still in the air around three hours before their 7:15 p.m. game against the Mets in Queens. Their rumored flight, Delta flight 8879, was scheduled to land at 4:32 p.m. at LaGuardia Airport, just a few miles away from Citi Field.
Mets interim manager Andy Green said at his pregame news conference shortly after 3:50 p.m. that they are preparing for the game to start on time.
“They're airborne right now, as far as I know,” Green said. “And I'm sure MLB will make some level of a determination if something needs to change.
“As of now, we're preparing like our game is going to start on time. Until we get information otherwise, that's how we're going to keep preparing.”
