Three Long Islanders catch Pete Alonso's 300th home run ball at Citi Field

Three Long Islanders teamed up to catch Pete Alonso's 300th career home run ball at Citi Field on Tuesday night.
Michael Shaw of Smithtown confirmed to Newsday that he and fellow Smithtown residents Nick Maldarella and Chris Makarius caught the ball.
The trio gave the ball to Alonso, who signed a bat and a ball for each of them in return. Alonso also signed the jerseys and shirts they were wearing. Shaw and Makarius were wearing Alonso Mets jerseys and Maldarella was wearing a Carlos Delgado shirt.
Alonso offered the trio tickets and access to batting practice for a game at Camden Yards in Baltimore next season.

They exchanged the ball for signed baseballs, bats and Alonso to sign their jerseys.
