Mets first baseman Pete Alonso had totaled eight career winning walk-off plate appearances since reaching the big leagues in 2019. It seemingly gets more fun for him with each one, based on the photographic evidence of the celebrations.

"Any walkoff, whether it’s a walkoff home run, a walkoff sac fly – anything like that moment is really, really special because the whole team is so happy," Alonso told Newsday's Laura Albanese. "It means it’s the end of a hard-fought game and losing those tough games, being on the losing side of that, it’s like, man, you were just that close. Knowing you did your job at pretty much the most important time, it’s great, and everyone is so stoked that we won. It’s an amazing feeling."

"My favorite was my first walk-off homer in 2020 against the Yankees," Alonso told Newsday's Laura Albanese. "[Citi Field] was full of cutouts, because it was 2020 [and the COVID season] but it was still great." Alonso hit a two-run homer on an 0-1 count off the Yankees' Albert Abreu in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 9-7 win.

Another walk-off homer for Pete Alonso as he blasted a solo shot to leftfield off the Nationals' Kyle Finnegan in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game of a doubleheader. (Note: In 2021, as part of COVID-19 health and safety protocols, MLB played several doubleheaders, with each game lasting only seven innings.)
