Hofstra hires Susan Cassidy-Lyke as its new softball coach

Hofstra named Hicksville native Susan Cassidy-Lyke as its new head softball coach on Friday.
Cassidy-Lyke had been the athletic director and head softball coach at Molloy since 2006. She had a record of 570-448-1 at Molloy and her .560 winning percentage is the highest of softball coach in school history. Cassidy-Lyke led the Lions to three Division II national championship tournament appearances, 14 East Coast Conference tournaments (winning four titles) and eight NCAA regional tournaments. She earned four consecutive ECC Coach of the Year Awards from 2009 to 2012.
Before her stint at Molloy, Cassidy-Lyke coached three different sports over 15 years at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville. She had a 287-85 record as the softball coach, winning nine CHSAA titles and four New York State championships. Cassidy-Lyke was Newsday's Nassau County Coach of the Year in 2003.
