Stony Brook women's lacrosse team ousted from NCAA Tournament by Boston College

The Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team lost to second-ranked and defending champion Boston College, 10-7, in the second round of the NCAA Division I Tournament on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
Courtney Maclay had two goals and an assist, Charlotte Wilmoth also scored twice and North Shore High School product Casey Colbert had two assists for Stony Brook (16-5), which had its winning streak snapped at seven games.
The Seawolves trailed 5-0 after one quarter but
scored three unanswered goals to cut their deficit to 8-6 with 12:49 left in the fourth quarter.
Boston College (18-2) took a 9-6 lead on a goal by Rachel Clark with 4:27 left. Maclay scored her second goal with 2:03 remaining to cut it to 9-7, but Clark netted her fourth goal with 52 seconds left to seal it.
Manhasset’s Emma LoPinto had three goals and one assist and Kylee Colbert, Casey’s younger sister, also scored for Boston College, which improved to 5-1 against Stony Brook.
Wilmoth scored a team-high 64 goals for the Seawolves, who appeared in the NCAA Tournament for a 12th consecutive season.
After the game, Stony Brook coach Joe Spallina was asked about his future with the team. His reply: “I don’t know what tomorrow holds for me.”
